Job Description

Personnel Plus Inc. is now hiring a Shelter Helper to provide daily care for shelter animals while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This role includes hands-on animal care and facility maintenance.

Pay: $8.00/hour

Schedule:
Mondays and Fridays, Saturdays from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (16 hours/week)
Additional hours as needed for coverage and special events

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning of animal areas, including kennels, runs, dishes, and bedding
• Feed animals and provide specialized diets as required
• Monitor animal health and behavior; report concerns promptly
• Socialize and groom animals to support well-being and adoptability
• Maintain cleanliness of public areas (laundry, dishes, floors, windows, etc.)
• Provide excellent customer service and assist with adoption processes
• Promote humane and compassionate treatment of all animals
• Collaborate with team members and assist with additional duties, including events

Qualifications

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push up to 100 lbs regularly
• Comfortable performing repetitive physical tasks
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong observation skills and attention to animal health and behavior
• Friendly, professional demeanor with the public and coworkers

Work Environment

• Fast-paced, hands-on setting with frequent interruptions
• Combination of indoor and outdoor work
• Exposure to noise, cleaning chemicals, and varying weather conditions
• Emotionally rewarding but may involve difficult situations, including caring for sick or injured animals
