Job Description

The courier safely transports products and materials within the city and surrounding areas while providing excellent customer service. This role handles pickups and deliveries on a set schedule, supports shipping and receiving activities, and uses basic computer systems to manage paperwork and communication. The courier works closely with internal teams in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and plays a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and secure delivery of items.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled pickups and deliveries within the city and surrounding areas in a safe and timely manner.
  • Collect incoming products and materials and deliver outgoing items at designated times.
  • Transport products and materials to specified locations according to established routes and instructions.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, including boxes and other materials.
  • Verify quantities and accuracy of received goods against documentation.
  • Complete and forward all related paperwork and documentation to the appropriate department.
  • Support shipping and receiving functions, including recordkeeping, shipping/receiving documentation, and quality control checks.
  • Conduct physical inventories and help maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Use scanners and related devices to record materials and track inventory movements.
  • Use computers and email systems to communicate, process orders, and manage delivery information.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to internal and external contacts.
  • Communicate effectively with hospital personnel and other stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Follow all safety, transportation, and facility procedures while operating vehicles and handling materials.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all traffic laws and company driving standards.

Essential Skills

  • 4–5 years of experience as a courier.
  • 4–5 years of experience working in customer service.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, maintained throughout employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Familiarity with the Charleston area and surrounding locations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with hospital personnel and other contacts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with computers, including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using email systems such as Outlook.
  • Inventory and material handling experience.
  • Logistics and transportation experience.
  • Experience driving box trucks.
  • Experience with order management and invoice processing.
  • Ability to stand on your feet for the majority of the shift.
  • Physical ability to pick orders and stock shipments.
  • Ability to use a scanner to record and track materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a courier or in delivery roles, ideally in a healthcare environment.
  • CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) experience or exposure is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform recordkeeping tasks, shipping/receiving activities, physical inventories, and quality control checks.
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong service orientation.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed to support operational demands.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling documentation and inventory.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charleston, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
