Position: Part-Time Delivery Driver

Reports to: Store Manager & Store Supervisor/Management Team

Direct Reports: None

Schedule: Tentatively Wednesday - Saturday

Position Philosophy:

The Delivery Driver’s primary responsibility is to provide exceptional customer service at all times while ensuring safe, timely, and accurate delivery of merchandise to our customers. This role represents the store beyond our four walls and plays a critical part in creating a positive and lasting impression during the delivery experience.

The Delivery Driver is responsible for the proper loading, securing, and transportation of merchandise, as well as clear communication with customers regarding delivery timing and expectations. Professionalism, safety, and attention to detail are essential in every delivery interaction.

In addition to delivery responsibilities, the Delivery Driver will contribute to the overall upkeep and operations of the store. When not on deliveries, this role will support the sales floor by assisting with tasks such as stocking, assembling merchandise, maintaining cleanliness, organizing backstock, and helping customers as needed.

The Delivery Driver will also assist in ensuring delivery processes are followed accurately, including verifying orders, collecting necessary paperwork, and communicating any issues or discrepancies to store leadership.

This position requires flexibility and teamwork, as the Delivery Driver will work closely with all departments to support store operations and deliver a consistent, high-quality customer experience.

Customer Service:

• Provide a positive representation of Owenhouse Ace Hardware.
• Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
• Greet customers entering and throughout the store.
• Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.
• Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor.
• Work well with customers as well as associates.
• Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
• Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
• Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
• Assist customers throughout the store with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Store Operations:

• Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment.
• Assist with receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise throughout the store.
• Assist with maintaining back stock levels.
• Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise area.
• Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise.
• Assist with merchandise resets through the store.
• Provide assistance to Department Specialists, i.e. price changes, special orders.
• Ensure signage is current throughout the store.
• Communicate any Store Support Center issue to the Store Manager for follow up.
• Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to the Store Manager.
• Participate in store meetings.
• Be professional in appearance and actions.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
• Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively.
• Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.
• Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location.
• Assist in pricing, stocking, marking and bagging of merchandise.
• Be aware & conscious of any shoplifting activity. Notify a Supervisor immediately.
• Must be willing to learn how to cut keys, program chip keys, cut glass, re-screening, lock rekeying, filling bulk propane and any other service we provide.
• You will be trained to drive a Forklift and expected to run the Forklift as determined by management.

Other Essential Requirements:

High School or GED equivalent. 

Clean & Clear Driving Record

Drive with and back up a trailer

Experience:

Retail experience preferred. 

Customer service experience preferred. 

Physical Demands:

Standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and climbing.

What started as a mercantile carrying all the goods a person of that time would need, including bikes, and have since grown and expanded to become what is now Owenhouse Cycling and Owenhouse Ace Hardware. The Owenhouse Cycling building was originally constructed in 1949 as a showroom for tractors and other farming implements. Things have changed a bit over the years, with our latest remodel taking place in 2014.
