Job Description
One of Insight Global's consulting clients is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to join their project team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing COBOL-based applications that support core business functions. You will work within a day-to-day mainframe environment and be expected to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions using IBM technologies.
This person will collaborate with and support a development team in India each morning until approximately noon EST, providing technical guidance, answering questions, and ensuring alignment. After that, the developer will transition into individual contributor work for the remainder of the day.
Key Responsibilities
Mainframe Development: Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and/or CICS.
Collaboration: Work closely with the offshore team in India during morning hours to support their work, clarify requirements, and provide technical direction.
Troubleshooting & Debugging: Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues to ensure application reliability and performance.
Code Reviews: Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and project requirements.
Documentation: Create and maintain clear and accurate technical documentation.

Skills and Requirements
5+ years of experience in Mainframe Development
Proficiency in COBOL, VSAM, JCL, DB2, and/or CICS, with the ability to provide technical guidance to team members (including code reviews)
Strong troubleshooting skills with experience managing incident response and performing root cause analysis
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with offshore teams
Leadership skills with the ability to guide and support team members when needed
Hybrid-Remote in Malvern, PA 3 days a week
