Qualifications Basic Requirements Bachelor’s degree or above; background in marketing, international business, commerce, or engineering preferred Around 5 years of experience in market operations or marketing within smart hardware, consumer electronics, or IoT industries Hands-on experience or deep exposure to the Japanese market, with an understanding of Japanese business and market practices Ability to abstract GTM logic from market execution, rather than focusing solely on tactical delivery Language & Communication Fluent in Japanese and English, capable of conducting business communication and research interviews Fluent in Chinese, able to clearly report Japanese market insights to HQ Nice to Have Experience with Amazon Japan, Japanese local channels, or distributors/agents Participation in overseas market 0→1 exploration or pilot phases Basic understanding of smart home / smart security technologies such as Matter, BLE, Wi-Fi Experience spanning both market execution and strategic reasoning (“why this works”) Location: Shenzhen / Shanghai Role Background This role is primarily focused on market operations and Go-To-Market (GTM) research for the Japan market. Through systematic analysis of real-world market entry and execution approaches, the role aims to help the company clearly understand: How the Japanese smart hardware / smart security market is actually developed The GTM paths, channel mix, and operating models adopted by different companies in Japan Whether—and at what stage—it is necessary to establish a full Product Marketing function for the Japan market Key Responsibilities 1. Japan Market & GTM Model Research Research mainstream GTM models in Japan’s smart hardware / smart security / IoT markets (To C, To B, channel-driven, platform-based, etc.) Deeply analyze how local Japanese companies and foreign brands enter the market, build awareness, and scale operations Produce structured insights on “how market entry and GTM actually work” in Japan 2. Competitor & Benchmark Analysis Focus on major Japanese smart hardware and smart security brands Analyze their positioning, channel strategies, promotional approaches, and operational focus Identify learnings that are transferable versus those that are market- or context-specific 3. Market Operations Practice & Validation Participate in or support selected Japan market operations activities (e.g., channel communication, content assets, online platform operations) Assist in validating different GTM hypotheses in the Japanese market This is not a KPI-driven execution role, but an observation-, analysis-, and post-mortem–oriented role 4. Market Intelligence Feedback & Decision Support Translate frontline market insights into clear, decision-ready inputs Support management decisions on: Whether the Japan market should move into the next stage Whether to upgrade the role into a full Product Marketing or Regional Lead position Act as a long-term “market intelligence window” for Japan
