Job Title: Welding Engineer

Location: Wentzville, MO (On-site)

Type: Contract-to-Hire | Full-Time

Overview

A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking a highly skilled Welding Engineer to support daily welding and dispense operations within a fast-paced, highly automated production environment. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, improving manufacturing processes, and working hands-on in a cutting-edge Body Shop environment.

What You'll Do:

• Provide daily technical support to Maintenance and Quality teams for welding and dispense systems

• Troubleshoot equipment failures and process-related issues to minimize downtime

• Coach and mentor maintenance personnel to strengthen root-cause analysis and troubleshooting capabilities

• Serve as a subject-matter expert on GMW standards and ensure process compliance

• Partner with Quality and Production teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement

• Support automation upgrades, robot integrations, and tooling enhancements in the Body Shop

What You Bring:

Essential Skills:

• Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment

• Hands-on Body Shop / plant floor experience

• Willingness to work overtime, off-shift, and rotate shifts as needed

• Strong problem-solving skills with a bias for action

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior Body Shop maintenance experience

• Experience as a Maintenance Group Leader or Technical Support Engineer

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or a related field

Work Environment

• Approximately 75% of your time will be spent on the production floor and 25% in an engineering office setting

• Highly automated environment with frequent robot upgrades and new technology introductions

• Required PPE includes safety glasses, high-visibility gear, and arm protection

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wentzville, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $48.00/hr.
