Job Description

Description

Director of Collections – Finance
Summary: The Director of Collections leads the organization’s collections strategy to maximize recovery, minimize risk, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role will oversee collections operations, performance analytics, and team leadership while aligning with financial and customer experience goals.

Key Responsibilities:
Process Leadership & Execution
- Lead the design and execution of standardized collections and credit processes across brands and business units.
- Evaluate existing practices to distinguish true business needs from legacy or siloed approaches.
- Reduce one-off workflows and exceptions while preserving legitimate operational differences.
- Drive adoption of new processes through hands-on leadership and follow-through.

Best Practices & Continuous Improvement
- Identify high-performing practices across teams and scale them company-wide.
- Translate institutional knowledge into documented, repeatable playbooks.
- Continuously assess and improve efficiency, effectiveness, and consistency.

Training, Performance & Accountability
- Develop and implement structured training programs for collections teams.
- Define clear performance expectations and monitor results through KPIs and dashboards.
- Partner with Finance Operations and AR leadership to reinforce adherence to standard processes through performance management, reporting, and incentives.

Process Improvement, Tools & Enablement
- Drive process improvement through workflow redesign, standardization, and simplification.
- Identify opportunities to streamline work through automation and applied AI use cases such as prioritization, exception handling, and workflow optimization.
- Partner on the evaluation and implementation of systems that improve efficiency, accuracy, and visibility.
- Ensure technology supports well-designed processes rather than fragmented or one-off workflows.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Change Leadership
- Work closely with Finance, Billing, Customer Support, and Operations teams.
- Navigate resistance and entrenched ways of working with credibility, data, and clarity.
- Lead change across teams with strong personalities and established processes.
- Maintain clear escalation paths when alignment cannot be reached or performance is materially impacted.

Who You Are:
Profile
- A strong collections or credit operations leader ready for broader scope and influence.
- Comfortable operating in a complex, multi-brand environment.
- Confident leading execution, not just advising.
- Analytical, pragmatic, and systems-minded.
- Able to challenge the status quo without being dogmatic.

Experience & Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in Collections, Credit, or AR Operations.
- Experience working across multiple businesses, brands, or customer segments.
- Proven track record of process improvement, standardization, and execution at scale.
- Exposure to ERP, billing platforms, and collections systems.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance considerations in collections.
- Ready for a first Director role with meaningful responsibility and visibility.

What Success Looks Like:
- Clear, standardized collections and credit processes adopted across the organization.
- Fewer siloed and one-off approaches; greater consistency and transparency.
- Stronger training, clearer accountability, and improved performance metrics.
- More efficient operations enabled by better processes, systems, and automation.
- A collections function positioned to scale with the business.
